When praying for the Ephesian church, the apostle Paul asks that the spirit of wisdom and the revelation in the knowledge of Christ be given to them. This is so that they may understand who they are and what they have in Christ (Ephesians 1:17-19).
In today’s scripture, Jesus opened the minds of his disciples to understand the scriptures written about Him. This removed their fears and confusion.
Similarly, our children should not only be encouraged to spend time with scriptures, but to also build a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, our Helper and Guide, will make the understanding and application of scriptures easy for them (John 14:16) (John 16:13).
When our children understand scriptures, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they will be able to rightly apply it in their daily living. This should remove fears and confusion from their lives, and help them resist sin (Psalm 119:11).
