“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, …” – Deuteronomy 29:29 NKJV

Messy Play

A toddler’s messy play could show us different things including cognitive development. However, all we might see as parents is an untidy room. Some of us parents even go as far as telling our child off and removing them from the play. We then focus on reorganising the room to an acceptable standard, leaving our child wailing in the background.

Look closely

“We choose to see what we want to see”. We need to start taking a closer look at our children. God might be revealing something crucial to us about our child. However, we could be distracted focusing on negatives including behavioural issues. This could make us miss key messages, and then conclude that God is not speaking to us or answering our prayers.

Today’s scripture explains that only God knows the secret things and chooses the things that are revealed to us. Sadly, if we are far from God or distracted by other things, it’ll be difficult for us to hear Him when He releases those crucial revelations about our children to us.

What next?

We need to be intentional about spending more fun times with our children. When we do, we should remember to ask for grace to focus on their positives and for insight into the unseen.

Prayer Points

  1. Father God, thank you for being omniscient (knowing all things) and can reveal the hidden things that I should know about my children
  2. Holy Spirit, help me to be patient as you shape and work on my children
  3. Holy Spirit, help me to focus on the positives in my children, that I might work with You to empower them to fulfil their destinies
